Please explain a little about yourself, and where do you come from?

[Shue 13]
I’m 38 year-old self-taugh digital artist. I have taught myself for 6 years now first as a hobby but coming from a long way I trained harder and harder so that people get to know me a bit which gave me some opportunities to get published have a bit of exposure and be solicited for few commissions. Handling like two jobs at the same time and working hard at the office and then home after my day-to-day work I made my mind to change my Professional orientation and become full-time freelancer.

Do you think it’s possible to describe the process of your art style, what are the does and don’t, the important aspects you set yourself to achieve your style of design?

[Shue 13]
Sure, I would compare my process of creation as the spider and the net. Most of the time I don’t have a reconstructed image in mind that I need to express with a drawing or else. I’m tending to this process now but it’s hard work for me. I need to have visually something I can actual develop from to make my process work and let the imagination flow till the final piece. Now I look for references, collect them and try to consolidate a concept from them. Working for a client is a different thing and really great for this last process because very often he comes with a preconcept, so with deep-thinking, imagination and good sketching training my art style tends to be more and more accurate and so I can go in different ways depending on what the client wants in terms of finished piece. I think my art style would rather turned towards a mix of illustrative artworks combining painting, 3D assets and photos rather than photo-realistic ones. It’s always hard to judge your work on your own but this the processes I use.

For your Designs, do you start manually the sketches or do you start straight with the software?
Why this choice?

[Shue 13]
I start straight with the software because it’s much more convenient for me. You can erase, change things much more easily. I come to pen and paper when I don’t have any computer at my grasp, lol !!!

What products do you deliver? (Book cover, Magic the Gathering illustrations …)

[Shue 13]
It depends, I do book covers, game illustrations, wallpapers and even some concept arts.

What is your dream for the next five years?

[Shue 13]
Well, either getting hired by a great game company or run my studio and hire a couple of artists to work with me.

[YourCavern Blog]
What are your expectations from the design world?

[Shue 13]
To be a huge community, help each other, work internationally and make the digital world not something virtual but rather something concrete with a strong sense of human relationship contrary to what most people think. I strongly think that art is a treasure to protect at any cost and living from his art skills has never been so possible nowadays than 20 years ago in my opinion.

Do you have any favourite artists, who may influence your art?

[Shue 13]
The first name that comes up is Dylan Cole because it pulled the trigger in my mind when I first saw his fantastic matte paintings. His work echoed to all the movies I was fond of, (Star Wars III, Lord Of The Rings, etc…). After that many artists influenced me, space artists, matte painters, character artists, and great encounters on social networks. The type of artists who, when they support you, you are just saying to yourself ‘WOW, this guy’s work is mind-blowing, he might have had a fat-finger when clicking the FOLLOW ME or LIKE button’, ha ha!!!

Any books/movies/video games that you fancy and get you inspired?

[Shue 13]
Sure, I’m a great fan of Star Wars of course like many. Sci-fi movies in general, from Stargate, Blade Runner to the very Marvel ones like Guardians of The Galaxies that was so awesome. I really dig some mangas as well like Saint Seiya, Cobra, Ghost in the Shell and as regards video games, I’m pretty much turned towards sports like NHL games, or skateboarding ones, but how not to mention Killzone series I’m totally crazy about ; and the very awesome « Destiny » game I got for Christmas !!!!
